And so it begins…

I’ve just started a Masters in Ceramics at The University of Lancashire. After graduating with a 1st Class BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art from Northumbria University in Newcastle, I’ve decided to embark on this two year journey in ceramics.

My focus shifted to ceramics towards the end of my 2nd year on my degree. I began using clay in an unconventional manner- no use of kilns, no glazing, just a raw interest in the materiality of clay. I began self-teaching some techniques, such as slab building, and I assembled some forms and structures later used in my degree show.

After graduating in 2019, I took some time out to work and became an Arts Technician at a local high school. However, I had an itch to scratch. Travel was always on the cards, so I left work and travelled Australia, Asia and parts of Europe for 3 years. Upon my return, I wanted to re-kindle my love for clay & ceramics.

And so it begins…
