Box Two
Box One out of the reduction Kiln & stick added on as handle
Box Two and stick added on as handle
I’m pretty happy with the final results- The glazes came out slightly different to planned
Some successes-
I really liked how the transparent glazed transformed in the reduction kiln on box one, my aim was to have the texture exposed, just glossed over with the glaze but the reduction firing changed the outcome, which was interesting.
I also liked the raw, unglazed edges on box two. With the added grog in the clay, it helps capture the materiality of the clay and the making process.
The olive wood ash glaze came out as expected too
Some improvements-
The bronze glaze needs work, it wasn’t as metallic looking as my test piece was when I first made the glaze. I wanted a more statement finish oppose to a matte black.
The smooth sides of box two didn’t fire as expected, the copper oxide and white glaze left a patchy outcome.
