My Pair of Boxes

These are the pair of boxes all made ready for the ‘box of secrets’ project deadline at the end of Feb 2026.

My second box was a great textural exploration as I carved into the grogged slabs with a metal kidney and ripped it away from the clay. Again, the contrast of the smooth walls vs textural walls adds a level of consideration to the box, allowing the texture to speak louder.

Really pleased with how this box turned out- I love the textural contrast between the base and the box. This contrast does convey this sense of ‘preciousness’ as it adds a level of thought and composition to the box whilst more literally portraying the mountain silhouettes of New Zealand.
