Ullswater Lake & Surrounding Pockets of Landscape
At the end of July 2026- I went to Ullswater lake for 3 nights and used this time to gather information & images from the landscape. I find landscapes that are situated by water, tend to have a variety of different textural characteristics. Perhaps due to water erosion, or exposure to damp climates. Moss flourishes in these areas, lichen seems more colourful and textured, especially on rocks, and wood is more prone to intense cracking, due to absorbing moisture then drying out in hot conditions.
Overall, it creates an amazing opportunity to source inspiration, forage for rocks and moss and always discover something new about the natural world.
An abstracted interpretation of a rock face- picking up on details, lines and form in my own style.
